How to use shampoo bars

Patch test for allergies on the upper inner arm. If any irritation occurs, please discontinue use and contact your doctor. Do not apply to irritated or compromised scalp or skin, such as over a wound.

1. Wet the shampoo bar briefly with water and set it aside. Wet hair until soaked entirely.
2. For a light cleanse and minimal lather, rub the shampoo bar in your hands until a lather appears, and then apply lathered hands to the scalp and run down the hair shaft.
3. For a deep clean and rich lather (recommended), follow step 1, place the bar on the scalp, and gently rub the shampoo bar in a circular motion. Then rub the shampoo bar along the hair shaft in a one-way downward motion. Increase lather on the hair with your hands, then rinse until no product remains. Follow with conditioner if needed.

Storage and maintenance

Your shampoo bar needs to stay as dry as possible between uses. To achieve this, place your shampoo bar in a spot furthest from the water source in your shower and away from other products, and in a spot where your shampoo bar can drain. I recommend that you use a soap saver as this allows for drainage and airflow to the bottom of your shampoo bar while also lifting it off of solid surfaces.

How to use conditioner bars

Patch test for allergies on the base of the neck or inner arm. If any irritation occurs, please discontinue use and contact your doctor. Do not apply to irritated or compromised scalp or skin, such as over a wound.

When the bar comes into contact with water and friction, it forms a lotion.

1. To begin, wet the bar and set it aside before washing your hair. This allows time for the outside of the bar to soften. Once you have rinsed all the shampoo or pre-wash out of your hair, there are two ways to apply it: a. Wet your conditioner bar again. Rub the bar in a gentle one-way motion while running your other hand over the area applied to. This helps you feel how much conditioner is in your hair and spread it around. Continue applying until you feel all your hair is coated. This is the best way to avoid using too much product (my preferred method), or b. Rub the conditioner bar in your wet hands and continue until a small amount of lotion forms in your hands. Keep in mind that the amount of lotion you will need for your hair will be much less than you will get out of a bottle because it is so concentrated.
2. Wait 1 – 3 minutes, then rinse.

If you want to spot treat, such as only applying to your ends, you can rub the bar directly on the hair in a downward motion to the floor. Do not rub upward on the hair strands.

Storage and maintenance

Conditioner bars will last long and dry out well between uses as long as they have two conditions met. They need to be kept in the driest place in your shower, and they need to be placed on top of a ventilated surface, such as on a soap saver. The driest place in your shower is typically the corner nearest the opening of the shower and furthest from the shower head. However, to know for sure, you can place dry items in all the corners of your shower and inspect them after showering. The item with the least amount of water around or on it will be the best place to put the conditioner bar.
