Bars shipped may be wrapped in compostable materials to ensure their protection during shipping. All materials are certified by the suppliers as easily composted in at-home compost &/or recycling systems. What is a conditioner bar?
Conditioner bars are an alternative to a bottle of conditioner. They are more sustainable than most because they do not require packaging. They are also very travel-friendly! Conditioner bars are TSA-proof and can replace a few items you may need (excellent as shave lotion or in-shower lotion)!
How to use
Patch test for allergies based on the recommendations found on the American Acadamy of Dermatology website. If any irritation occurs, please discontinue use and contact your doctor. Do not apply to irritated or compromised scalp or skin, such as over a wound.
When the bar comes into contact with water and friction, it forms a lotion in the hands that will feel exactly like the consistency of a conditioner.
- Before shampooing, wet the bar and set it aside.
- Once you have rinsed all the shampoo or pre-wash out of your hair, rub the conditioner bar in your wet hands and continue until the amount of lotion that forms is enough to cover your hair (this will be different for everyone).
- Take the lotion that has formed in your hands and distribute it through your hair exactly as you would a conditioner from a bottle.
If you want to spot treat, such as only applying to your ends, you can rub the bar directly on the hair in a downward motion to the floor. Do not rub upward on the hair strands.
Storage and maintenance
Conditioner bars will last long and dry out well between uses as long as they have two conditions met. Because conditioner bars are plastic free hair products, they need to be kept in the driest place in your shower, and they need to be placed on top of a ventilated surface, such as on a soap saver. The driest place in your shower is typically the corner nearest the opening of the shower and furthest from the shower head. However, to know for sure, you can place dry items in all the corners of your shower and inspect them after showering. The item with the least amount of water around or on it will be the best place to put the conditioner bar.
