My Naked Coconut Milk & Clay Bar Soap is perfect for sensitive, dry skin! No fragrance or synthetic color has been added to this bar soap, only the natural scents of Organic Extra Virgin Coconut Oil and Fair-trade Cupuacu Butter come through. It has the most decadent foam texture and feels hydrating to the hands after use.
What is a Natural Bar Soap?
Natural bar soaps are made from a chemical reaction between natural oils and lye, a substance also found in nature. When lye is mixed with water and a fat source, it creates a chemical reaction called saponification, and the end result is what we refer to as natural bar soap (there is a liquid form as well, referred to as liquid castile or bastile soap, which can be found for purchase here). There are also synthetically-derived bar soaps made from surfactants, usually found on the soap and body wash aisle in the grocery store.
Hero ingredients:
* Organic Extra Virgin Coconut Oil: The hero! Fair-trade and Organic, this ingredient provides excellent cleansing properties to the bar.
* Cupuacu Butter: Also known as vegan lanolin, this butter is related to cocoa butter, yet lighter in feel and a humectant that attracts water to the skin.
* Coconut Milk: softening and full of vitamins and minerals.
* Babassu Oil: Anti-bacterial and softening.
* Kaolin Clay: Adds softness and purifying properties to skin, great for sensitive skins that have issues with eczema, psoriasis, and dermatitis.
* Sugarcane: Adds moisture to skin and bubbles to the lather. Made from renewable sugarcane.
* Vitamin E: An antioxidant that protects the oils in the bar and keeps them fresh.
* Olive oil: Moisturizing ingredient full of oleic fatty acid, perfect for easily-irritated skin.
* Sodium Lactate (Propanoic Acid, 2hydroxy, Monosodium Salt): A humectant to the skin, drawing moisture.
How to use natural bar soap
For use on skin. Please do not use on hair or scalp.
Patch test for allergies on the upper inner arm. If any irritation occurs, please discontinue use and contact your doctor. Do not apply to irritated or compromised scalp or skin, such as over a wound.
Wet skin and bar in water. Rub bar on skin until the desired amount of lather appears. Rinse.
Storage
Natural bar soaps are sensitive to being kept wet. Therefore, it is best to store your natural soap bar on a device that allows for proper drainage and air circulation around the bar, such as a Soap Saver. It also helps to store the bar away from a water source where a lot of splashing can occur, such as near the faucet on a sink.
